The banter was funny and playful, it really helped keep the story flowing. I really loved this! Jase and Kazi were a treat! We have some truly amazing character development in this. I own the books, and I don't know if I should give them to someone I know who might like them, or sell them.Bless you Mary Pearson for giving us an angsty romance that doesn't feel abusive at any point.

Other than Folk of the Air (where I only liked the first book) and The Lunar Chronicles (liked all of them), I haven't cared much about any of the other series.Īsking because I will still recommend these authors/series to the right person, even if I don't like them myself. I usually end up liking the first book/series I read by an author more than the second, and it's been random which series I've started first. I can't really answer, since I feel it's been so random which books I've liked. Maas, Leigh Bardugo, Holly Black, Stephanie Garber, Kerri Maniscalco and all those popular YA fantasy/romance authors, how likely do you think it is you'll also like Marie Rutkoski and Mary E. Maas' series had I not read a little of all three of them).Īnother question: If you like Sarah J. I feel like some authors write books that are a little too much like each other (I might have liked and finished one of Sarah J. So, question: How similar are these books/series? (characters, plot, romance, action, mood). I found out The Midnight Lie is set in the same world as The Winner's Curse, and that Dance of Thieves is set in the same world as The Kiss of Deception. I don't care much about what happens next either, only a little curious if I'll end up liking it a little bit towards the end (which is usually why I finish books I don't enjoy reading - because in maybe 1 og 30 books, I do actually change my mind in the end).

Right now, I don't think I'll change my mind about it at the end (that almost never happens, no matter how many people tell me how it will definitely get better - those twists people are telling me about, often just makes it even more dissappointing for me). It's just that I've heard it's more politics, which I like more than romance.Ĭurrently halfway through The Kiss of Deception, and I haven't liked anything about it yet.

I don't like many of the popular YA books (and have never liked any sequel better than the first book), but do you think I might like this if I continue? (I don't care much about the romance, so if most of the mc's decisions are based on something that has to do with the love interest, I don't think I'll continue). I've read The Winner's Curse, and didn't like it much (a 2-star rating for me, I think it was), but am still thinking of continuing the series, because I'm a little curious of how it will continue (and I thought the characters were sometimes alright).
